EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Ohio Dominican cross country team concluded its 2019 season at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The Panther men and women were both led by freshmen in Caleb Belmont (Carroll, Ohio) and Paige Boehringer (Covington, Ohio), respectively. Belmont, in his first collegiate 10-kilometer race, paced the men with a time of 35:58.3. Boehringer led the group of ODU women with a personal-best six-kilometer time of 24:49.0.
The women also had three other runners post sub-26 minute times. Sophomore Ashley Wihl (Williamsport, Ohio), along with freshmen Haleigh Spencer (Hilliard, Ohio) and Emma Lutz (Celina, Ohio) rounded out the top four on the women's side for the Black & Gold.
Sophomore Sean Noll (Sheridan, Ohio) was the second fastest runner for the Panther men, clocking in at 36:46.1. Junior Keaton McNair (Pickerington, Ohio) was the third ODU men's runner to cross the finish line, coming in at 36:59.2.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Grand Valley State claimed the regional team championship on both the men's and women's sides. Walsh had the top men's and women's teams from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, with the Cavaliers placing fourth and third, respectively.
With the fall season behind them, the Panthers will now turn their attention to the indoor track & field season.
