Three Panthers Register Double Figure Kills In 3-1 Win Against Walsh

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team continued conference play hosting Walsh on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers conquered the Cavaliers 3-1.

Box Score Notes

  • Three Panthers collected double figure kills. Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) led the way with 16. Freshman Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) followed with 12 and sophomore Lauren Lucas (Grove City, Ohio) added 11.
  • ODU out hit Walsh 0.314 to -0.03 in the fourth set.
  • Libero Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) and Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) were perfect in receiving. Shoup and Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) each registered 13 digs.
  • Freshman setters Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) and Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) had another double figure assist match. Kirker tallied 22 and Avery with 17.
  • The Black and Gold combined for 13 total team blocks. Leading the way was freshman Grace Zinchuk (Schaumburg, Ill.) with 7. Maxwell added 6 blocks.

How It Happened

  • Set one opened with six ties. Lucas had back-to-back kills to give the Panthers the lead 8-6.
  • The Black and Gold went on a four-point run with consecutive service aces from Zinchuk, extending the lead 15-13.
  • Despite the Cavaliers grabbing four of the last six points, ODU came out on top in set one, 25-22.
  • Set two opened with Walsh grabbing the lead early off a kill from Olivia Maczuzak, 3-2.
  • The Panthers regained the lead after a kill from Maxwell, making it 10-9.
  • The Cavaliers went of a five-point run, extending their lead 14-10.
  • ODU rallied late with kills from Maxwell and a service ace from Zinchuk, but fell to Walsh 25-20, tying the sets 1-1.
  • The Black and Gold jumped in front in set three 6-3 off a kill from Kirksey.
  • With never trailing in the set, Ohio Dominican won seven of the last nine points to take set three 25-14, taking the lead 2-1.
  • The Cavaliers led once in set four after a kill from Ravin Morgan, 3-2.
  • The Panthers went on an 8-1 run to extend their lead, 20-11.
  • With a kill from Aselage, ODU won set four 25-19, winning the match 3-1.
