Volleyball Claims Team Academic Award for 11th Consecutive Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association has once again honored the Ohio Dominican volleyball team for its efforts in the classroom.

The AVCA announced Monday, July 19, that 1,275 collegiate and high school teams have earned the United States Marine Corps/AVCA Team Academic Achievement Award for the 2020-21 season.

The team award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball programs that maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 grading scale. This marks the 11th consecutive year that Ohio Dominican has earned recognition from the AVCA.

Ohio Dominican is one of five institutions from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference honored for the 2020-21 season. The Panthers have the second most all-time (11) and the second longest active streak (11 seasons) among G-MAC schools, trailing only Findlay (18 all-time, 17 consecutive years).

Eleven members of the ODU volleyball program were recently named to the G-MAC All-Academic team as well. The mark ties the program's highest academic all-conference total since joining the G-MAC in 2017.
