COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team suffered a three-set loss at home Friday evening to Great Midwest rival, Tiffin.
The Panthers (3-22, 2-7 G-MAC) returned to Alumni Hall for the first time since Oct. 8, and were led by sophomore Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio), who had 10 kills. Freshman Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) had eight kills, as well as a team-high .615 hitting percentage.
Recording three blocks each were sophomore Abbi Gillson (Canton, Ohio) and freshman Madison Smith (Elyria, Ohio). Senior Allie Rutter (Fostoria, Ohio) paced the Panthers with 16 digs, while also going 13-for-13 in service receptions. Sophomore Zoë Carmichael (Wooster, Ohio) added seven digs and a team-best 21 assists.
One of four first set kills from Fecht had the opening frame tied at 10-all. Unfortunately, the Dragons (13-11, 6-1 G-MAC) tallied four consecutive points to take control of the set, one they would win 25-21.
Tiffin never trailed in the second or third sets and ODU rallied to tie the score just once over the final frames. The Dragons earned set scores of 25-15 and 25-8 to secure the match victory.
The Panthers continue a busy month at home when they welcome Cedarville for a G-MAC contest at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2.
