SAINT CHARLES, Mo. – Sophomore Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) logged 23 kills over seven sets during the final day of competition for the Ohio Dominican volleyball team at the Lindenwood Invitational.
Remmetter was one of three Panther players to tally double-digit kills in a four-set loss to William Jewell, leading the way with 17. She added a team-high six kills during a three-set setback to Lindenwood. The sophomore added 12 digs on the day as well.
Against William Jewell, sophomore Riley Kizer (Mason, Ohio) and freshman Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) joined Remmetter with a hitting percentage over .350, tallying 13 and 10 kills respectively. Fecht also paced the Panthers with seven blocks on the day.
Defensively, senior Allie Rutter (Fostoria, Ohio) and freshman Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) led the back row with 30 and 21 digs respectively. Sophomore Zoë Carmichael (Wooster, Ohio) recorded 60 assists on the day, including a career-high 43 helpers against William Jewell.
The Panthers (0-7) found themselves in an early hole during all three sets in their day-opening loss to Lindenwood. The Lions would take the match 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17.
In the night cap, behind a .455 hitting percentage, ODU took the opening set against the Cardinals 25-17. The William Jewell defense tightened though, holding the Black & Gold under a .100 hitting mark in two of the final three sets. The Cardinals took the final decision by a count of 17-25, 25-19, 26-24 and 25-20.
The Panthers will continue their busy September slate with three matches at the Southern Indiana Invitational next weekend, Sept. 19 through 21. The stretch begins with a match against the host Screaming Eagles at 7 p.m. CDT, Thursday, Sept. 19.
