Panthers Look to Rebound on the Road

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After dropping two home matches, each by one goal, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team will look to rebound on the road this week.

The Panthers hosted the Ohio Dominican Invitational this past weekend as Ashland, Tusculum, and Southern Indiana came to Columbus. ODU faced Tusculum on Friday night and Southern Indiana on Sunday afternoon.

Both games were tightly contested, but the Panthers lost each game by one goal each. Against Tusculum ODU fell behind 2-0, but had a late rally almost pulling the comeback, losing 2-1. On Sunday the Panthers and Southern Indiana went scoreless in regulation. In overtime the Screaming Eagles were able to score, defeating ODU 1-0.

Junior Broegan Sautter (Bellville, OH) has recorded the lone goal for the Panthers, with junior Summer Bourcier (Mansfield, OH) logging the one assist.

This week the Panthers will travel to Cedarville and Lee.

On Wednesday ODU will travel to Cedarville, Ohio to face the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers hold an overall series record of 9-2-1 against Cedarville, including a 2-1 overtime win last season in Columbus. The last time ODU was in Cedarville, the Panthers won 2-1 in double overtime.

Cedarville comes into the week with a 1-0-0 record. The Yellow Jackets defeated Urbana 3-1, and had a 3-1 edge on West Virginia Wesleyan before the final 37 minutes were cancelled due to weather.

Junior Jacoby Ziegler leads the charge offensively for the Yellow Jackets. Ziegler scored 33 goals in her first two seasons at Cedarville, including 20 last season. In 2013 she recorded the second highest point total in a single season in school history with 50 points. This season Ziegler has already recorded two goals against Urbana and had two more against West Virginia Wesleyan but those are now unofficial.

Lee University

The Panthers will travel to Cleveland, Tennessee on Sunday to face the Flames of Lee University. Lee and ODU have faced off twice in the past, with Lee winning both games. Last season the Flames went 14-4-2 overall and made it to the National Christian College Athletic Association tournament where they won two regional matches and one national match.

This season the Flames have had a similar like the Panthers. Lee is 0-2-0, but lost both matches on the road by one goal each. The Flames have been led by a freshman this season in Nicole Blanchard. Blanchard has scored both goals for Lee on the young season.

Lee will have a home match against Findlay before hosting the Panthers. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14.
