COLUMBUS, Ohio – The first reveal of the Ohio Dominican Women's Golf All-Decade team honors three recent Panther student-athletes.
After 800-plus responses in the week-long fan voting process, Bailey Krueger (2016-present), Emma Romine (2016-20), and Abby Swensen (2016-20) are the first of three all-decade members announced. Swensen was the top choice in the fan poll, receiving nearly 80 percent of the ballot total.
All three members announced Tuesday joined the ODU women's golf program during the 2016-17 season, with Romine and Swensen graduating in 2020, while Krueger is using an extra year of eligibility to compete in the current 2020-21 campaign.
The trio has helped produce four of the top five scoring seasons in program history, including the school record for team scoring in 2019-20, 324.36. The mark also ranks ninth all-time in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history. Under the leadership of Krueger, Romine and Swensen, the Panthers are one of just four schools to have three seasons rank inside the top20 all-time in the G-MAC.
Since the start of the 2016-17 season, ODU has won three team championships, including the 2017 Capital Purple and White, the 2018 TaylorMade Dataw Island Intercollegiate and the 2020 Mt. Vernon Nazarene Fall Invitational.
Ohio Dominican has also posted its four lowest scoring team rounds in school history, including the best mark, 307, at the 2019 ODU NC4K Classic. The three lowest 36-hole aggregate team totals have also come in the past five seasons, including this past fall, where Krueger led the Panthers to a score of 618 (310-308) to rank atop the program leaderboard.
Krueger has been a mainstay in the Panther lineup since joining the program in 2016 and will enter the 2021 spring season with 79.5 rounds played. Her round total and career scoring average, 82.53, both rank second in ODU laurel. Twice the Canal Winchester, Ohio native has registered top 10 scoring seasons for the Black & Gold. Her best season average of 80.24 (2018-19) ranks fifth in the record books, while her 2019-20 mark of 81.27 is seventh best.
Krueger's lowest round of 75 sits just outside the top 10 all-time for ODU, but her career-best 36-hole aggregate of 151 is tied for fifth in program history. Krueger has hit the mark twice, once at the 2018 Cumberland Trail Classic, and again at the 2020 MVNU Fall Invite, as she split the individual medalist honors with teammate Shannon Ireland in the latter of the two performances.
Her best 54-hole scoring aggregate came at the 2018 G-MAC Fall Preview, where she posted a total of 243. Her three-round total is good enough for seventh in school history. Krueger also has top five program marks in top-10 (7) and top 20 (21) finishes.
Over a four-year career, Romine appeared in 73.5 rounds for the Black & Gold, finishing with a scoring average of 83.20. Both career marks are fourth in school history. The Marysville, Ohio native posted three top five finishes, including a career-best third place performance at the 2017 Capital Purple & White Spring Invitational. She also totaled 12 top 20 finishes, including six inside the top 10 of tournament leaderboards.
A four-time WGCA All-American Scholar award winner, Romine improved her season scoring average in each of her four years on campus. Romine finished her career in 2019-20 with a personal-best mark of 81.64, which is ninth-best all-time at ODU.
Romine's best individual scoring round came at the 2019 Cumberland Trail Classic, with a second round 74. She would go on to place tied for 10th in the event with a 36-hole total of 153, her best mark as a Panther. At the 2019 G-MAC Championships, Romine posted the sixth best 54-hole aggregate in school history, 242, which was also good enough for 10th place at the event.
Swensen left the Panthers after the 2019-20 season as one of the top golfers in program history. The Milford, Ohio native improved her scoring all four seasons and is one of just two golfers in school history to be on the season average top 10 list three times. Swensen improved from 81.80 in 2017-18 to 81.48 as a junior in 2018-19. Finally, as a senior in 2019-20, she posted a season average of 79.55, which is second-best all time at ODU.
Swensen appeared in 67.5 rounds for ODU and closed her collegiate campaign with a scoring average of 82.86, which ranks third in school history. She posted 18 top 20 finishes, including eight inside the top 10 and three tournaments inside the top five. All three marks are top five all-time at ODU.
A three-time WGCA Scholar All-American and two-time all-GMAC performer, Swensen holds the school record for lowest scoring round. She posted a two-under 70 in the first round of the NC4K Classic. Swensen finished the tournament at 151, her career-best 36-hole aggregate, which is tied for fifth on ODU's all-time list and good enough for sixth at the event.
