MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Saturday proved to be a massive day for the Ohio Dominican women's golf team. The Black and Gold secured their first team victory of 2020 at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Fall Invitational at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The Panther women captured their lowest scoring total in school history through 36 holes and their second-lowest scoring total in 18 holes during Saturday's contest.
Krueger came out of the gates earning par of better through her first ten holes of the tournament. She finished the first round with a 76 and improved her score by one stroke to finish with a 75 during the final round.
Ireland continues her superb run of form as she shot an 80 during the opening round at Chapel Hill before rallying to collect a 71 during the second round. That second-round scoreline is tied for the second-lowest 18-hole score in Ohio Dominican history. Ireland ties ODU alum Jamie Ellison who collected that mark three times in her career.
Sophomore Alyssa Newsom (Granville, Ohio) also enjoyed a great day on the links scoring a 74 in the first round and a 78 in the second round. She also collected six birdies on the day.
Freshman Abbey Dillon (Bolivar, Ohio) finished the day with an 80 and 84 respectively. She finished the day with 14 pars and two birdies.
The Panthers return to action next Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10 and 11 at the Tiffin Fall Invitational at the Mohawk Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.
