Women's Basketball Drop Road Match To Hawks

INDIANA, Pa. – On Thanksgiving Eve, the Black and Gold took a trip to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where they dropped their final non-conference match-up against the Hawks, 79-61.

  • Junior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) matched her career-high of 37 points in tonight's contest. Stare went 14-20 from the field and 5-7 from behind the arc adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Off the bench, freshman Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio) led the way with five rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
  • Guards Trinity Ramos (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) combined for six assists, six boards, and 15 points.
  • The Panthers fall to 2-3 overall with conference play coming up.

How It Happened

  • The Hawks opened with a 12-4 run in the first quarter. ODU responded with back-to-back threes from Stare to cut their deficit to two with 4:37 remaining. IUP went on another run and ended the quarter 25-14.
  • The Black and Gold outscored Indiana (Pa.) 11-10 in the second quarter with Stare going 4-5 from the field. Ohio Dominican trailed by 10 at the half, 35-25.
  • IUP opened the third quarter with a 19-5 swing extending their lead to 54-30. Ramos added a pair of three-pointers to the mix, but ODU still trailed 64-36 with 10 minutes left to play.
  • The Panthers began the fourth period with an 11-5 run of their own, making it 69-47 with 5:59 remaining. The Black and Gold ended the quarter shooting 3-5 from behind the arc but dropped the contest 79-61.
