Panthers Fall To Cardinals In First Road Game, 75-62

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – On Saturday afternoon, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team fell to the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley 75-62 in their first road match of the season. The Panthers are 1-2 on the season.

Box Score Notes

  • Freshman guard Trinity Ramos (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) continues to put up the numbers. Ramos led the team with 17 points while shooting 60 percent from the field and 66 percent behind the arc.
  • Forward Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) added 16 points to the mix with four rebounds and two assists.
  • Fellow teammate Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) notched 12 points going 3-3 from both the charity strip and from three.
  • The Black and Gold went 71 percent from the free throw line with freshman Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio) going 4-6. Chapman added four rebounds and four assists.
  • In 36 minutes of play, junior Camryn Pickerill (Seamen, Ohio) collected a career-high of eight steals, accounting for over half of the combined 12 team steals.

How It Happened

  • The Cardinals scored first and found themselves with a 13-5 lead halfway through the first quarter. Stare scored a layup late, but the Panthers trailed 21-7 at the end of the quarter.
  • The Black and Gold opened the second half with a 9-0 scoring run to cut their deficit to 26-19 with 5:31 remaining in the second period.
  • ODU outscored SVSU in the second period 20 to 12 but remained trailing by six at the break, 33-27.
  • Out of the break, Fearon swished a three after connecting with Pickerill, making it 33-30.
  • Ohio Dominican took the lead for the first time, 42-40, after a layup from Ramos with 4:31 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Despite outscoring the Cardinals 20 to 15, the Panthers still trailed by one, 48-47, entering the final period.
  • Fearon grabbed another three to tie the contest at 50-all. Saginaw Valley responded with back-to-back scores to take back the lead.
  • The Cardinals took the game 75-62 after going 14-19 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter alone.
