CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Senior Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) scored 20 points and secured four rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Ohio Dominican women's basketball fell to Cedarville University 93-63 Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's contest marked the 66th all-time meeting between the two schools and the first since their thrilling shootout on December 3 inside of Alumni Hall in which the Black and Gold proved victorious by the score of 95-92.
Fox did the majority of her damage in the third quarter, scoring 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting. The senior forward was also perfect from the free-throw line, making all five of her attempts. It also was the only period in which the Black and Gold outperformed the Yellow Jackets, making 42-percent of their shots, compared to the host's 37-percent.
Junior Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) scored 16 points and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Teammate Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) secured her second double-double in as many games, with 12 points and 10 rebounds on the afternoon.
Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) also was dynamic on the glass, securing 13 rebounds.
Cedarville came out of the gates firing. The hosts were 9-of-18 in the opening stanza and opened up a 24-17 lead after the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets carried the momentum into the locker room at the half.
ODU outgunned Cedarville in the third quarter as Fox and Troyer came out firing in the second half. The Black and Gold also shifted their attack inside, outscoring the hosts 12-8 in the paint. The Panthers also earned a 9-0 advantage in second-chance points as Troyer and Kern securing additional possessions.
Despite leading in both second chance and offensive rebounds, the Panthers couldn't stop a potent Cedarville attack. Five members of the Yellow Jackets finished the game in double figures and lifted their team to victory.
The Black and Gold return to action inside of Alumni Hall on January 23 as they welcome Tiffin University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Sunbury Road.
