TIFFIN, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team couldn't survive a slow second-half start and fell to the Tiffin Dragons 65-56 on Saturday afternoon inside of the Gillmor Student Center in Tiffin, Ohio.

ODU began the game on a 7-3 run as Amanda Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio) captured four quick points. The senior forward converted a free throw three minutes into the game and made one of her career-high two three-point shots to give the Panthers the advantage.

Teammate and junior guard Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) also played a role in securing the early advantage, adding a triple and an assist to help the Black and Gold close out the opening quarter with a 18-13 advantage.

The Panthers continued to enjoy success in the second quarter, shooting 6-of-13 (46%) from the floor and 4-of-7 (57.1) from beyond-the-arc.

Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) made her presence known during the second stanza, going 2-of-3 from the field and collecting a steal. The senior guard also played every minute of the first half.

ODU enjoyed getting production up and down the bench as five of the eight players that entered the game during the quarter tallied a basket. That production allowed the Black and Gold to carry a 34-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Tiffin began the second half on an 11-3 run to capture the lead. Guard Aarion Nichols scored six points and added one assist, while Jada Tate added four points to give the hosts the advantage.

Bailey Williams (Dublin, Ohio) snapped the shooting skid for the Black and Gold with four minutes to go in the period. Her three-point shot kept the Panthers within two points. The senior tallied a career-high in points with eight.

Troyer and Schlabach wouldn't go down without a fight as the Panthers tried to claw their way back into the game in the fourth quarter. The duo combined for nearly half of the ODU points scored in the final stanza. Unfortunately, the Panthers couldn't overcome the strong second-half start and see their record fall to 1-1 on the season.

ODU returns home next week for a date with Hillsdale College on Thursday, Dec. 10 and the University of Findlay on Saturday, Dec. 12 inside of Alumni Hall.
