LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team fell victim to a slow start Saturday afternoon, falling to #8/13 Ashland in a regional neutral site contest, 103-83.

The Panthers (0-2) had five players score in double figures but were outscored by 18 points in the first quarter, 32-14. Nationally-ranked Ashland (2-0) shot close to 60 percent in the first 10-minute session and opened the contest on an 11-0 scoring run.

ODU used a 29-22 scoring advantage in the second quarter to close its deficit to 11 points at the intermission, 54-43. Sophomore Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) netted a three-pointer in the closing seconds to pull the Panthers within 11.

The Eagles though, never allowed the Panthers to pull within single digits in the second half, outscoring ODU 49-40 over the final 20 minutes of play. Ashland used the advantage to cruise to the 103-83 decision.

Spearheading a balanced offensive effort for the Black & Gold was junior Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio). Fox finished with 14 points on five-of-nine shooting. Senior Brittleigh Macaulay (Big Prairie, Ohio) recorded her first collegiate double-double, registering 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. A third starter adding double digits in the scoring column was junior Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio), who pitched in 12 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Panthers finished with 33 bench points as well, led by 12 points each from junior Amanda Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio) and sophomore Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio). Schlabach added nine points, as ODU went with an eight-player rotation in the game.

Both sides shot over 40 percent in the contest, but Ashland made seven more shots from behind the arc. ODU though, was 25-of-30 at the foul line to gain an 11 point edge at the charity stripe. The two teams also combined for 39 assists, with senior Emily Thomas (Pickerington, Ohio) leading the way for ODU with six.
