FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's and women's track and field team began the 2019 campaign at the Oiler Opener on December 7th on the campus of the University of Findlay.
Freshman Aniyah Benjamin began her college career by collecting a win in the 60-meter dash, finishing with a time of 7.98 seconds. Benjamin also had a strong showing in the 200-meter dash as she finished in third place with a time of 26.88 seconds.
Senior Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio) collected a top-three finish in the 60-meter dash and had a strong showing in the 4x400 meter relay.
Senior Cam Brandon (Cleveland, Ohio) earned a top-three finish in the 60-meter hurdles concluding his race in 8.46 seconds. Brandon along with Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio), Omar Jalloh (Pataskala, Ohio), Mekhi Hawkins, combined for a third-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay finishing in 3:27.
Caleb Belmont (Carroll, Ohio) finished in second place running the mile in 4:38. He also finished in second place in the 3000 meters, finishing in 9:22.
Draven Bass added a victory in the 600 meters for the Panthers to start the season off on the right foot for the Black & Gold.
Ohio Dominican returns to action on January 18 as they head to Tiffin, Ohio, to participate in the Tiffin Dragon open.
