COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last weekend the Ohio Dominican softball team returned to Sunbury Road for its first competitive game at home in nearly 700 days. The Black and Gold enjoyed some home cooking, going 3-1 on the weekend, picking up wins against Saginaw Valley State University and West Liberty University.

This weekend the Panthers welcome Purdue Northwest University and Davenport University for five contests over the course of three days on Sunbury Road.

ODU enjoyed offensive production from senior Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) whose clutch hitting allowed the Black and Gold to claim victory during its opening home stand. The Panthers are led on offense by freshman Baylee Adams (Cardington, Ohio). She leads the Black and Gold in batting average, hitting .286 with three RBIs.

Sophomore Madison Shemwell (Owensboro, Kentucky) is also enjoying great success, hitting .261 with one double and one triple this season. Shemwell is a terror on the base paths, leading the Black and Gold in steals with four this season.

SCOUTING PURDUE NORTHWEST

The Pride return to action following an eventful first weekend of action where they went 2-3 during the Midwest Region Crossover. Purdue Northwest claimed its only two wins of the weekend over Lake Erie College, winning 8-0 and 13-5 respectively.

PNWU are led offensively by the tandem of sophomore outfielder Aubrey Shroyer and infielder Ashley Bravo. The duo leads the team in batting average hitting over .429 and Shroyer represents a power threat as she is near the top of the charts in home runs.

SCOUTING DAVENPORT

Before they come to Sunbury Road the Panthers of Davenport travel to Cedarville University to battle the Yellow Jackets. DU sits at 3-5 on the season and previously won its first two meetings against ODU back in February when the two teams played in neutral-site contests at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee.

DU is led offensively by sophomore Lindsay Goodman who leads the team in hitting with a .480 average, three doubles, two home runs, and seven RBIs. Ellie Muilenberg is the top pitcher for the Panthers. She has a 2.42 ERA, with 27 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched.

ODU opens the weekend facing off against Purdue Northwest on Friday with the first pitch scheduled at 4 PM. The Panthers welcome Davenport University to Sunbury Road for a Sunday matinee beginning with the first pitch at noon Sunday.
