COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team welcomed back its six seniors to Panther Field on Sunday, October 4, as part of senior day festivities. The original event was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this spring.
The Panthers honored Emma Bergman (Oak Harbor, Ohio), Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio), Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio), Brooklyn Rayburn (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio), and N'Ayriah Virden (Mansfield, Ohio).
Head coach Marcella Vanlandingham and assistant coach Caitlyn Gambone orchestrated a terrific event, decorating the field and utilizing the scoreboard with custom messages to the senior class and the socially distanced crowd in attendance.
"Today was definitely a great day to be a Panther. It was great to have the opportunity to recognize 6 outstanding young women in our softball program who graduated from ODU in May, Vanlandingham said. "While it is unfortunate their season was cut short in the spring and we could not send them off in proper fashion, we are grateful we could get together to honor them now. It was so fun to have each of them back. This was a very special group of young ladies both on the field and off. It has been my privilege to coach them. We wish them the best in the future. I have no doubt they are going to do great things as they move on to the next chapter of their life. They will be missed but will always be welcome here."
