COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's softball team split with Ursuline dropping game one 3-0 before winning game two 4-1 on Senior Day at Panther Field.
Sophomore Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio) led the Panther offense in game two going 2-for-2 with a three run home run and a single with four RBI's while senior Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) and junior Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) were each 2-for-3 with a run scored.
After a scoreless first inning, the Arrows got on the board with a run in the second which was quickly answered in the bottom half as Bales hit a sacrifice fly that scored Mix to knot the game at 1-1.
Bales then broke the game open in the fourth hitting a two-run homerun to right field, her sixth of the year, that brought Cori Ladanyi (Ludlow, Kentucky) around to score as well making the score 3-1.
Bales struck again in the sixth with a single to left that brought in Slider as the Panthers added an insurance run making the score 4-1.
Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) earned the win in the circle improving her record to 15-8 this season throwing a complete game giving up just the one run on seven hits while punching out nine Arrow hitters.
After a scoreless first three innings in game one, Ursuline struck for three runs in the fourth inning while the Panther offense could not get going as Slider had the only hit in the seventh inning.
ODU (30-20, 19-5) stays at home tomorrow hosting Lake Erie where the Panthers will celebrate Friends of Jaclyn Day for the 10th time tomorrow with game one starting at 12 p.m. where honorary team member Reagyn Semler will throw out the first pitch.
