INDIANAPOLIS – Junior first basemen Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) of Ohio Dominican's softball team was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Farmer is the second consecutive player of the week for the Panthers as Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) was named last week.
Farmer led the offense during the week as she recorded at least one hit in all four games as she finished the week with a .583 batting average as she was 7-for-12 at the plate. She also hit three home runs in the four games including two in a 3-for-3 effort in game two of the Davis & Elkins series. She posted six RBI's in the four games and had an on base percentage of .643 and a slugging percentage of 1.417.
In that game two win over D&E, Farmer had her highlight game reaching base all four times with a pair of home runs, a single and a walk while collecting four RBI's.
In the 6-5 game one win over the Senators on Saturday, Farmer was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
In the series on Friday with Alderson Broaddus, Farmer was 3-for-6 overall and in game two was 2-for-3 with Farmer hitting a go-ahead two run homerun in the sixth inning.
Farmer and the Panthers are riding a 13-game win streak and are 21-13 overall and are sitting at the top of the conference at 12-0 as they head to UIndy for a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 3.
