LEBANON, Illinois – Ohio Dominican's softball team dropped a doubleheader with McKendree on Tuesday, falling 9-1 in game one and 7-3 in game two.
The Panthers (6-12) managed just one hit in game one as a home run by Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio) gave ODU a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Bearcats struck for three in the bottom of the first and broke the game open with two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.
In game two, the Panthers jumped on the Bearcats once again scoring one in the first inning. Bales reached on an error and came around to score on a single from Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) who was 3-for-4 in game two.
McKendree (12-10) would come back with a pair in the bottom of the first before the Panthers would regain the lead in the top of the third. Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) scored Slider on a double to left field and Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) helped her own cause scoring Mix on a single to the right side.
The Bearcats blew the game open in the bottom of the third scoring five times to put them up 7-3 and ODU could not convert on their chances leaving 10 runners on base throughout the game.
The Panthers are scheduled the have their home opener on Friday, March 15 as they play host to Saginaw Valley State with games to be played at 2 and 4 p.m.
