COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team play host to two G-MAC competitors in Lake Erie and #11 Walsh this coming weekend from Panther Stadium.
The Black and Gold are coming off of a 1-0-1 week defeating the Pioneers of Malone (1-0) at home on Wednesday, Sept. 14 then traveling to Northwood on Saturday, Sept. 17 drawing with the Timberwolves 2-2.
Freshman Marco Perez (Gilbert, Ariz.) connected with Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) in the 42nd minute to give the Panthers the upper hand against Malone. Goalkeeper Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) collected three saves between the posts to shut-out the Pioneers.
At Northwood, senior forward Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) tallied both of the Black and Gold's goals. In the 49th minute of the match, Hassan combined with a cross from Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) to tie it up 1-all. ODU was awarded a penalty kick in the 86th minute that Hassan converted to end the match in a 2-2 draw.
After Hassan's two goal performance, he was awarded G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week.
About Lake Erie
The Panthers and the Storm faced off two weeks ago in Painesville, resulting in a win for Ohio Dominican. Lake Erie is currently 1-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Tom Akinola and Teddy Baker lead the team with three goals apiece.
The Cavaliers currently sit undefeated in the conference at 4-0 with an overall mark of 7-0-1. Jose Rabadan Villaneuva leads Walsh with five goals. Gabriel Altawil adds four goals to the season. Freshman keeper Charlie Walker has 34 saves and a GAA of 0.63. He has been named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week for back-to-back weeks.
Kickoff is set for 5 PM on Thursday, Sept. 22 against Lake Erie and 5:30 PM on Saturday, Sept. 24 against Walsh.
