Urs Charges to Third Place, Panthers Finish 6th at Charleston

CHARLESTON, West Va. - The Ohio Dominican men's golf team wrapped up the first event of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday (Sept. 13) in the Golden Eagle Invitational. 

After Ohio Dominican tallied a first-round score of 295 on Monday (Sept. 12), the Panthers shot 294 on Tuesday to total 594 for 36 holes of action at Edgewood Country Club, finishing in sixth place of 16 teams. 

Sophomore Yadhu Urs (Castries, Saint Lucia) added four birdies on day two as he shot three-under-68. Urs, playing as the individual, finished tied for third with a 140 overall. He had seven birdies for the tournament, the third most of all players to go with 25 pars, also the third most. 

Graduate student Mack Cushman (Mechanicsburg, Ohio) and freshman Nash Linder (Grove City, Ohio) finished tied for 14th after the two shot 72 and 71, respectively. Linder had four birdies on Tuesday. 

Senior Jacob Brownley (West Chester, Ohio) tallied a 76 in round two, equaling 149 for the event in a 35th place tie. 

Graduate student Brett Coughlin (Washington, Illinois) shot another 75 on Tuesday for a 150 total and a 40th place tie. Freshman Harrison Leaver (Worchester, England) ended the tournament with a 79 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 154. 

The Panthers will travel to Gannon on Sunday (Sept. 18) and Monday (Sept. 19) for the Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
