NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Ohio Dominican men's golf season concluded on Tuesday at the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University.
Despite enjoying a nine-stroke improvement in their team score, the Panthers finished in sixth position with a tournament score of 586. Southern Indiana maintained its lead established during the opening round to finish in first position. Fellow G-MAC schools Hillsdale College and Trevecca Nazarene finished in second and third positions respectively.
Junior Robert Holden (Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, England) improved on his first-round 71 to finish tied for second place after shooting a final round 69. Just a day after collecting two birdies, Holden collected five during the final round to keep himself in contention for medalist honors. He also was near the top of the standings in par-3, par-4, and par-5 scoring.
It was another strong finish for Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) who finished tied for 11th position. The reigning G-MAC Player of the Week finished with a final round 70 that propelled him just outside of the top-10.
Saffell led the tournament field in birdies with 10 and was second place in scoring on par-5 holes, shooting -5 (4.38) for the tournament.
Sophomore McKenzie Cushman (Mechanicsburg, Ohio) finished tied for 16th position. He enjoyed a one-stroke improvement from his first-round 73, shooting a 72 in the final round. The second-year player also tied for second in birdies amongst the tournament field with nine.
Alex Heban (Toledo, Ohio) enjoyed a two-stroke improvement over his opening round score, shooting a final round 73 to finish tied for 27th position. He also collected 22 pars and five birdies.
