Men's Basketball Falls to Senators at Home, 75-51

COLUMBUS - In the second game of the current homestand, the Ohio Dominican Panthers men's basketball team hosted the Senators of Davis & Elkins College on Wednesday (Nov. 16) night at Alumni Hall. 

Despite leading the game early, the Panthers (1-2) fell to the Senators 75-51 despite a pair of career-highs from Jarius Jones (Gahanna, Ohio) and Kevin James (Massillon, Ohio).

BOX SCORE NOTES

  • Jones led the Panthers with 13 points on six-of-16 shooting and a team-high (and career-high) eight rebounds.
  • Keshawn Heard (Newark, Ohio) added 12 points off the bench with six field goals made on eight attempts. 
  • James came off the bench in the second half and answered with a quick seven points, including a quick three pointer in the first moments. The freshman added three rebounds, one steal and assist to go along with a block. 
  • Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) came up with a stat line of four points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals. 
  • The Panthers shot 35.5% (22-62) from the floor and finished with a 12% three point percentage (3-of-25). 
  • Ohio Dominican outrebounded the Senators 39-32, and 18-9 on the offensive glass. 
  • Eight different players had at least three rebounds in the game. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Laurich opened the game with a steal and score, putting ODU up 2-0 in the first minute. After D&E answered one minute later with a quick four-point run, Jones tied the game at four points with an offensive putback. 
  • Davis & Elkins pushed the lead to 9-4 before the under-16 media timeout before the Panthers went on a 10-4 run to take a 14-13 lead with 12:11 left in the first half. Jones scored the final four points as the Panthers regained the lead. 
  • The visitors took the lead back and quickly went on a 10-0 run for a 23-14 advantage and the under-eight media timeout. Overall, the Senators ended the final 12 minutes of the half with a 25-11 run, holding a 38-25 lead at halftime. 
  • In the second half, the Panthers were outscored 37-26 despite going on a 7-0 run and also a 9-2 run with seven points from James.
