Men's Basketball Travels to Alderson Broaddus Before Beginning Home Stand

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team gets set for a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference contests this week as they travel to Alderson Broaddus on Thursday before hosting Davis & Elkins on Saturday.

The game at AB is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip at Rex Pyles Arena while the contest with D&E is set for 3 p.m. in Alumni Hall.

About Ohio Dominican

Ohio Dominican comes into the week with a 13-9 overall record and a 9-6 conference record after a tough road win over Lake Erie by a final score of 76-73 last Thursday.

Sam Hickey's (Toledo, Ohio) go-ahead jumper with 56 seconds along with Ryan Hoyng's (Celina, Ohio) clutch free throws down the stretch capped by the last of Ben Casanova's (Sylvania, Ohio) five steals sealed the win for the Panthers.

Casanova's five steals is the most in a game amongst Panthers since Morgan Jones had 10 back in 2013.

ODU also shot a season high 59.6% (31-for-52) and 55.6% (10-for-18) from behind the arc.

Earlier in the season, ODU narrowly defeated AB by a final score of 74-70. In that game, Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) accounted for 19 points while grabbing 21 rebounds. Hickey poured in 16 while Tahj Curry (Fort Wayne, Indiana) had 11.

In the contest against Davis & Elkins earlier that week, Varence set the G-MAC record grabbing 25 rebounds while scoring 23 points in the 91-61 win over Davis & Elkins.

Hickey matched Varence's 23 points and Honyg had 16 while Matt King (Mason, Ohio) had 12.

Varence is still leading the country in defensive rebounds per game at 9.58 and is second in the country with 12.2 rebounds per game. Varence's 10 double-doubles is also second in the conference while being 17th in the country.
