Men's Basketball Falls at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team fell to Cedarville in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest by a final score of 79-63 Thursday night at the Callan Center.

The Panthers were led by sophomore Tahj Curry (Fort Wayne, Indiana) who tallied 17 points and dished out four assists on the evening. Fellow sophomore Matt King (Mason, Ohio) was also in double figures for the Panthers with 13 points and four rebounds.

The first half saw the Panthers score their lowest points in a half with 24 but only trailed by 12 after the first 20 minutes.

The choppy start to the contest saw the Panthers trailing as Cedarville jumped out to a 21-10 lead with 7:07 remaining in the half.

ODU would cut the deficit to 10 at 30-20 at the 2:05 mark and would head to the locker room down 10 at 34-24.

The Panthers shot just 36% (9-of-25) from the floor and 22% from distance (2-of-9) while Cedarville was 50% (15-of-30) from the floor and 33% (3-of-9) from three.

ODU would cut the Jacket lead to seven at 51-44 with 13:03 remaining in the contest on a Curry layup.

A 13-2 Cedarville run after that would give the Jackets an 18-point lead in which the Panthers could not come back from.

ODU shot just 40% from the floor (23-of-57) and 30% from three (6-for-20) while Cedarville finished shooting 54% (31-of-57) including 59% in the second half (16-for-27) and 41% from three (7-for-17)

The Panthers drop to 11-8 overall and 7-4 in the conference while Cedarville advances to 11-8 overall and 8-3 in the G-MAC.

The Panthers stay on the road this Saturday as they travel to Tiffin with tip set for 3 p.m.
