COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team won its second-straight game and third in its last four tries, topping Ohio Valley by a final mark of 88-62 on Thursday night in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game in Alumni Hall.

The Panthers (10-9, 5-7 G-MAC) hit 11 triples in the game and held Ohio Valley to just 3-of-18 shooting (16.7 percent) from behind the arc. ODU leads the Great Midwest in assists per game and dished out 23 dimes on 34 made field goals. Also key was the difference in turnovers, with the Panthers committing just nine while forcing OVU into 19 miscues that led to 22 points.

Leading the way in scoring for Ohio Dominican was sophomore Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio), who scored 21 points and shot 7-of-12 from three-point range, tying a season-high in three-pointers made in a game. Junior Ben Casanova (Sylvania, Ohio) notched 13 points, four rebounds and two steals. Seniors Adam Cytlak (Van Buren, Ohio) and Ronnie Williams (Columbus, Ohio) each recorded nine points. Sophomore Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Senior Mike DeLeon (Powell, Ohio) tallied eight points and four rebounds, and sophomore Michael Scott (Hebron, Kentucky) finished with a career-high four assists for Ohio Dominican.

Ohio Valley (2-15, 1-10 G-MAC) led ODU 25-24 at the 8:27 mark of the first half, but the Panthers finished the half on a 23-6 run to take command. Trailing 25-24 with 8:14 to go in the half, Hickey buried a three-pointer to give the Panthers the lead and spark the run. Leading 29-25 with 6:55 to go until halftime, Casanova made a layup, followed it up with a made jump shot on the next possession and then Hickey knocked down a three at the 5:58 mark after a steal by Casanova to increase ODU's lead to 36-25. The Panthers continued the run over the next 5:58, and took a 47-31 lead into the break. Ohio Dominican outscored Ohio Valley 41-31 in the second half en route to an 88-62 victory.

The Panthers will host Walsh next Tuesday before traveling to Trevecca and Kentucky Wesleyan.
