COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team will travel to Painesville on Thursday to face the Lake Erie Storm in the squad's final game of the 2016-17 season. Tipoff is slated for Thursday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center.

About Ohio Dominican

The Panthers (13-12, 8-11 GLIAC) are looking to finish with an overall record above the .500 mark for the first time since 2007-08, when ODU finished 19-11 on the year, and for the first time since joining NCAA Division II.

Ohio Dominican currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC as a team in assists per game, averaging 15.6 assists per contest. ODU also ranks sixth in the conference in three-point shooting percentage, connecting on 38.3 percent of its shots from behind the arc this season. Freshman Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) currently ranks second in the GLIAC and 11th in NCAA Division II in three-point percentage, shooting 47.1 percent from behind the arc.

The Panthers have boasted a balanced attack offensively all season, with three players averaging over 12 points per contest.

Junior Ronnie Williams (Columbus, Ohio) averages a team-leading 13.8 points per game to rank in the top 20 in GLIAC scoring. Williams has scored 942 points thus far in his Panther career.

Freshman Hasan Varence (Queens, NY) ranks second on the team in points per game, averaging 12.8 points per contest. Varence also leads the team in rebounding with 7.9 rebounds per game. Varence's rebounding average is good enough to place him fifth in the GLIAC in rebounding overall.

Hickey has provided a spark off the bench for the Panthers, averaging 12.6 points per game and averaging 2.9 made three-point field goals per contest.

Junior Mike DeLeon (Powell, Ohio) is shooting an impressive 62.5 percent from the field this season to rank fourth in the GLIAC and 20th in the nation in field goal percentage. DeLeon finished with the second-highest field goal percentage mark for a season in Ohio Dominican history last season at 63.3 percent, and his current mark of 62.5 percent this year would be good enough to rank third in ODU history in field goal percentage for a season.

About Lake Erie

The Storm (4-23, 3-16 GLIAC) wrap up their season on Thursday, hosting the Panthers. Last time out, Lake Erie dropped a 92-71 contest at the hands of Hillsdale.

Lake Erie is led by leading scorer, senior Sean Howard. Howard is averaging 15.1 points per game on the season.

Sophomore Brogan Scott leads the Storm on the glass. Scott is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game, including nearly two offensive rebounds per contest as well.

The Storm also have two players that rank in the top 20 in field goal percentage in the GLIAC. Senior Nick Wells and Freshman Jordan Humphrey have shot 51.2 percent and 50.9 percent from the field, respectively.

Lake Erie leads the all-time series against the Panthers, 13-6, but Ohio Dominican is seeking a split in the season series with the Storm for the third-straight season.
