COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican men's basketball travels to Tiffin for its 2015-16 season finale on Thursday. The Panthers will look to reach 11 wins for the first time since the 2008-09 season and end their season with consecutive wins.
After falling to Ashland last Thursday 75-68, ODU rebounded with a 95-71 victory against Lake Erie at Alumni Hall on Saturday. Ohio Dominican defeated Tiffin in their last matchup, scoring its second-highest point total of the season in a 96-83 home victory.
In their most recent game, the Panthers (10-17, 7-14 GLIAC) scored 95 points and shot a season-best 63.8 percent from the field against Lake Erie. Senior Chad Nelson (Columbus, OH) scored a team-high 19 points and recorded five assists and senior Trent Weaver (Hilliard, OH) scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Senior Day at Alumni Hall. Sophomore Mike DeLeon (Powell, OH) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
Weaver was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week on Monday. Weaver shot 73.7 percent from the field last week and averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in the Panthers two games against Ashland and Lake Erie. He moved into tenth place all-time on the Ohio Dominican men's basketball scoring list and now has 1,244 points in his career.
Nelson has scored 40 points in his last two games and is shooting 51.7 percent in that span. He has 1,140 career points and is 15th on ODU's scoring list.
DeLeon is averaging 13.5 points in his last four games, tying a career-high with 19 points on Feb. 11 against Walsh and recording his second-highest point total with 18 against Lake Erie.
