HILLSDALE, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team shot just 33.9 percent as the Panthers suffered a 79-55 setback at Hillsdale Saturday afternoon.
Hillsdale's Kyle Cooper finished with 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and the Chargers (5-0, 2-0 GLIAC) shot 54.2 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 40-24 lead at the break.
The Panthers (3-5, 0-2 GLIAC) had led 16-14 with less than 10 minutes to play, but were outscored 26-8 to close the half. ODU could not trim it to single digits in the second half.
Sophomore Ronnie Williams (Columbus, Ohio) scored 11 points and senior Trent Weaver (Hilliard, Ohio) added nine points and six rebounds for ODU. Sophomore Shemar Waugh (Columbus, Ohio) dished out a game-high five assists.
ODU committed a season-low five turnovers, but made just 10-of-32 shots (31.3 percent) in the first half and 11-of-30 (36.7 percent) over the final 20 minutes.
The Panthers return to action at 8 p.m. Friday as ODU plays Ferris State at Ohio Wesleyan University, due to graduation setup in ODU's Alumni Hall.
