COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team will welcome Walsh and Malone to Alumni Hall this weekend for a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match ups.

Walsh Series Notes: Walsh leads the all-time series 46-10. In the last meeting earlier this year in Canton, the Panthers fell to the Cavaliers 82-54. Sophomore Mark Minch (West Chester, Ohio) had 22 points and four rebounds.

Malone Series Notes: Malone leads the all-time series 27-15. Back in January, the Pioneers defeated ODU 84-74. Senior Brandon Carr (Chicago, Ill.) had a breakout game, scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds. Sophomore Chad Nelson (Columbus, Ohio) chipped in 13 points.

Ohio Dominican Start Four Game Series at Home
The Panthers will play their next four games in Alumni Hall when they welcome Walsh on Thursday.

New, Notes, and Storylines

  • Junior Jesse Ward (North Pole, Alaska) had a standout performance at Findlay last week. Ward hit six of his 10 attempts from the field, including being 5-of-8 from behind the three-point line to score a career-high 17 points.
  • The trio of Minch, Nelson, and sophomore Trent Weaver (Columbus, Ohio) led the Panthers in the scoring column. Minch averages 12.5 ppg while Nelson averages 12.0 and Weaver averages 10.9.
  • Weaver leads ODU in rebounds, pulling down 7.7 per game.
  • ODU is second in the GLIAC in offensive rebounds per game (11.7), and sixth in total rebounds per game (33.9).

Scouting the Cavaliers:

Walsh is currently the top team in the South Division with an overall record of 17-3 and a GLIAC mark of 13-3. The Cavaliers are 9-1 in their last 10 games, losing to just Lake Erie College 85-74. Walsh is riding a five game winning streak entering Thursdays game.

Scouting the Pioneers:

Malone will travel to Tiffin on Thursday before coming to Columbus to player the Panthers. Isiah Elliot leads the Pioneers in scoring, averaging 19.2 ppg. Cory Veldhuizen and Christian Graves average 14.0 and 13.9 ppg respectively.
