COLUMBUS, Ohio – A hot-shooting Findlay offense proved to be too much for the Ohio Dominican men's basketball team, defeating the Panthers 87-62 in Alumni Hall Thursday afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division game.
Sophomore Trent Weaver (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman Reece Dils (Saline, Mich.) led the Panthers (3-10; 1-8 GLIACwith 10 points each while senior Don Kellum (Chicago, Ill.) added eight points and seven rebounds. Sophomores Mark Minch (West Chester, Ohio) and Chad Nelson (Columbus, Ohio), junior Jesse Ward (North Pole, Alaska), and senior Brandon Carr (Chicago, Ill.) all chipped in seven points.
The Oilers (10-3; 6-3 GLIAC) came out hot, and settled things by half-time. The Panthers hung around for nearly half of the first frame and got as close as 18-13 with 10:47 to go, but as time went on, the Panthers could not catch a hot-shooting Oiler squad, after and trailed 47-21 at the break.
Findlay controlled the second half, shooting 50 percent from the field. For the game, the Oilers shot 48.5 percent on 32-of-66 shooting, and 41.2 percent from behind the three-point line.
Ohio Dominican will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 when the Panthers welcome Hillsdale to Alumni Hall for a 3:30 p.m. game.
