COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team will travel to Ashland on Thursday, Feb. 21 and Lake Erie on Saturday, Feb. 23 for its final two road contests of the season. The Panthers and Eagles will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and at 1 p.m. on Saturday against the Storm.
The game against Ashland will be replayed on Sports Time Ohio on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11:30 p.m. and again on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 a.m., noon and at 5 p.m. Please check your local listings.
About the Panthers
On Thursday, the Panthers fell to Walsh by a score of 92-59. Senior point guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio) led the Panthers with 21 points while sophomore center Bobby Stauffer (Lexington, Ky.) added 17 points and six rebounds. Freshman center Trent Weaver (Hilliard, Ohio) chipped in nine points and nine rebounds while senior forward John Trew (Barberton, Ohio) finished with eight points and three boards.
On Saturday, ODU fell 90-66 to Malone. Jones paced the Panthers once again, scoring 20 points to go along with his four steals. Weaver had 10 points and nine rebounds while going a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Stauffer chipped in nine points while junior guard Ledarius Stennis (Moss Point, MS) and junior forward Don Kellum (Chicago, Ill.) each added six off the bench. Stennis also recorded four rebounds and a steal.
The Panthers are ranked second in the conference in offensive rebounds, pulling down 12.3 boards per game. They are also seventh in free throw percentage (72.6) and blocks per game with 3.3 a contest.
About the Eagles
Ashland enters Thursday's game with a 10-12 overall record and an 8-11 mark in the GLIAC. Most recently, the Eagles defeated Hillsdale 64-56. Brook Turson had 16 points and 12 rebounds, all on the defensive end, while Cole Krizancic added 11 points. Evan Yates paces the Eagles, averaging 16.5 points per game and pulls down 9.2 rebounds. Teammate Will Evans averages 9.1 points per game.
The Eagles currently rank sixth in defensive rebounds, averaging 24.1 per game.
Panthers – Eagles
Ashland has a 44-11 advantage in the series. The Panthers defeated the Eagles, 75-71 on Jan. 24 in Alumni Hall. Jones had 22 points, five assists and four steals in the win, while Trew added 12 points and seven rebounds. Stauffer chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds while Stennis and freshman center Jordan Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio) came off the bench and added eight each.
About the Storm
Lake Erie enters Saturday's contest with a 7-16 overall record and 4-15 conference mark. On Saturday, the Storm fell to Findlay, 67-41 in Findlay, Ohio. Riley Thomas led the squad with eight points while Rich Austin added seven.
The Storm currently ranks second in the GLIAC in steals per game, recording 8.4 a contest.
Panthers – Storm
The Storm currently hold a 8-5 edge on the Panthers in the series. On Jan. 29, ODU fell by a score of 69-50 to the Storm in Alumni Hall. Jones, Trew and sophomore guard Brock Ammons (Findlay, Ohio) each finished with 10 points.
