HILLSDALE, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team dropped an 86-59 decision in GLIAC play at Hillsdale on Saturday.
The Panthers shot just 29.3 percent (17-of-58) for the game, compared to 68.6 percent (35-of-51) for Hillsdale.
Senior guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio) had a double-double with 11 points and 10 steals, the second career double-double for him and the first with points and steals. The school record for steals in a game is 13 by Paul McLaughlin during the 1970-71 season.
Freshman center Jordan Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio) came off the bench to score a season-best 12 points in 14 minutes of action.
In the early-going, senior forward John Trew (Barberton, Ohio) had a steal at halfcourt and finished the breakaway with a two-handed slam to make it 8-6, but Hillsdale went on a 10-2 run to go in front 18-8 at the 13:41 mark.
The Chargers (10-4, 6-4 GLIAC) pushed their lead to 25-11 midway through the half as Hillsdale hit 11 of its first 15 shots, and the home team would take a 41-19 advantage into the half. Hillsdale shot 68 percent (17-of-25) from the floor in the opening half, while ODU (3-12, 0-10) hit on just eight of its 30 field goal attempts (26.7 percent).
Hillsdale then shot over 69 percent from the field in the second half as well to seal the win.
Ohio Dominican returns home to host Walsh at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 in Alumni Hall.
