SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team couldn't shake off a sluggish start, as the Panthers fell 93-57 to host Lake Superior State in a GLIAC crossover matchup Thursday at the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
Junior guard Brandon Carr (Westchester, Ill.) paced the Panthers with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-5 (60 percent) from beyond the arc. Senior point guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio) finished with 12 points while sophomore center Bobby Stauffer (Lexington, Ky.) added six points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Mark Minch (West Chester, Ohio) contributed 10 points.
ODU (3-9, 0-7 GLIAC) found themselves down early as the Lakers opened up the first half on a 20-9 run. The Panthers battled back to reach within five, 25-20 with 8:02 remaining in the frame. However, the LSSU offense would go on a 27-3 surge to increase the margin to 29, 52-23 to close out the half.
The Lakers (6-4; 4-3 GLIAC) kept their momentum going into the second half, shooting 53.8 percent from the field and outrebounding the Panthers 22-13, including 17 second half offensive rebounds.
The Panthers continue their road trip in the state of Michigan, as they travel to Northwood on Saturday, for a 1 p.m. GLIAC conference matchup.
