Game Notes

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Coming off its disappointing loss at Wisconsin-Milwaukee last Saturday, the Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team takes to the highway once more. The Panthers journey north to Michigan, and will start the New Year with a pair of conference games at Lake Superior and Northwood.

ODU and the Lakers tip off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 3. The Panthers follow that up against Northwood at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 5. This two game series marks the start of a four-game road trip for ODU, who are now 1-3 on the road.

The 95-80 Panther setback to Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee during the holiday break in the Klotsche Arena had a bright spot, the team shooting. For the contest, ODU finished 47.5 from the field (28-of-59) compared to UWM's 44.8 percent (30-of-67).

Senior point guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio), who scored the first seven points of the first half, had a career day, scoring 24 points and dishing out eight assists. Both those figures matched career-bests.

Sophomore center Bobby Stauffer (Lexington, Ky.) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Panthers while senior forward John Trew (Barberton, Ohio) finished the game with 11 points and four rebounds.

Scouting the Lakers:

Lake Superior heads into the game with a 5-4 record overall (3-3 GLIAC). Derek Kinney leads the Lakers with 15.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while Derek Billing is scoring 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per outing.

Scouting the Timberwolves:

Northwood, which will play a conference game on Jan. 3 before taking on the Panthers, enters the contest with a 2-8 record overall (1-5 GLIAC). Will Bowles currently lead the Wolves, averaging 12.2 points per game while Andrew VanDierenDonck is contributing 11.3.

Series History:

LSSU currently holds a 2-0 all-time record against the Panthers, defeating ODU 71-66 in Sault Ste. Marie last year. ODU was led by Jones, who finished the game with 19 points.

ODU is 0-2 all-time against Northwood, dropping a 70-65 decision in Alumni Hall last year. Once again, Jones paced the Panthers with 22 points and dished out five assists
