MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team stood toe-to-toe with Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the first half, but 18 turnovers and sharp shooting from the UWM Panthers helped stop the upset as ODU fell 95-80 Saturday afternoon in Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Klotsche Arena.

With the setback, ODU dropped to 3-8 while UWM improved to 4-10.

With six ties and 13 lead changes in the first half, and neither team leading by more than four, the Panthers found themselves trailing, 36-32 at the half. ODU shot 40 percent (12-of-30 shooting) from the field, including 2-of-4 (50 percent) from beyond the arc. Ohio Dominican held UWM to just 33.3 percent from the field (11-of-33) and 18.2 percent from the three-point line (2-of-11).

UWM started the second half on an 18-10 run in the first five minutes of the frame, increasing its margin to 12, 54-42.

The UWM Panthers took their largest lead of the game of 20, 87-67 with 4:15 on the clock, and never looked back, as their sharp-shooting proved to be too much for the Black and Gold. The home team scored 59 points in the second half, knocking down 19-of-34 shots from the field (55.9 percent) and 7-of-14 three-pointers.

Senior point guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio), who scored the first seven points for ODU in the first half, had a career day, scoring 24 points and dishing out eight assists. Both those figures matched career-bests.

Sophomore center Bobby Stauffer (Lexington, Ky.) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Panthers while senior forward John Trew (Barberton, Ohio) finished the game with 11 points and four rebounds.

For the contest, ODU finished the game shooting 47.5 from the field (28-of-59) compared to UWM's 44.8 percent (30-of-67),

ODU returns to the hardwood next Thursday, Jan 3 for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against Lake Superior and a 1:00 tipoff against Northwood on Saturday, Jan. 5.
