COLUMBUS, Ohio – A slow shooting start was too much for Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team to overcome as the Panthers fell 75-56 to visiting Michigan Tech Thursday night in a GLIAC conference contest.
Sophomore center Bobby Stauffer (Lexington, Ky.) scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed three rebounds and senior point guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio) added nine points and handed out four assists. Junior forward Don Kellum (Chicago, Ill.) had eight points and pulled down five boards to pace Ohio Dominican, which shot 43.8 percent (21-of-48) after shooting 9-of-24 (37.5) from the floor in the first half.
The Huskies controlled much of the first half, shooting 53.3 percent on 16-of-30 shooting, including an impressive 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from beyond the arc.
The Panthers (3-6, 0-5 GLIAC) kept the score close, until a late 22-9 run by the Huskies (6-2, 4-1 GLIAC) to put the margin at 18 before the break.
ODU managed to cut it to 14 on several occasions in the second half but could draw no closer and MTU shot 60 percent (15-of-25) in the second half and 56.4 percent (31-of-55) for the game overall.
Ohio Dominican returns to Alumni Hall Sunday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off against Northern Michigan.
