COLUMBUS, Ohio- Currently on a three game winning streak, the Ohio Dominican men's basketball team welcomes GLIAC North Division foe Saginaw Valley Thursday night. Tip-off for the contest with the Cardinals is slated for 5:30 in Alumni Hall.
About the Panthers:
Last week, ODU (3-1) journeyed west to battle interstate neighbor Central State (Ohio). In a see-saw affair, the Panthers squeaked out a hard-fought win, eventually prevailing 72-71 at Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium.
Trailing 65-63 with the clock due to expire, senior point guard Morgan Jones (Oberlin, Ohio), got ahead on an outlet pass, drove the length of the floor, but missed the layup. Senior forward John Trew (Barberton, Ohio) grabbed the miss but failed to convert the putback. Sophomore Bobby Stauffer (Lexington, Ky.) coming in from the backside, converted as the clock went to zero, sending the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Panthers held a 72-71 lead with 45.3 seconds left on the clock. Central State had a chance to tie or go ahead with a one and the bonus free throw. The front end was missed and the Panthers grabbed the rebound and called an immediate timeout.
Following the timeout, ODU missed a shot with 21.9 seconds left, but Morgan Jones grabbed the rebound and was quickly fouled. Jones missed the free throw, and the rebound went to CSU, who called timeout. After the timeout, CSU elected to play for the last shot, but the Black and Gold forced a turnover, and the Marauders were turned away.
Jones led ODU with 21 points, hitting 10-of-24 from the field. Freshman guard Chad Nelson (Pickerington, Ohio) tallied 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Stauffer added nine points and 11 rebounds. Trew ended the night with 8 points and 11 caroms.

In the 65-55 loss to the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville, Brett Beland had 11 points for the Cardinals, while Matt Burgess and Adams each added 6 points in the loss.
