COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team returns to the hardwood this weekend for the first two of its season-long six-game road trip as the Panthers take on Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan.
Tipoff against Michigan Tech is slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, while the game against Northern Michigan begins at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The trip, which is the program's first to the Upper Peninsula, will also be the first two road GLIAC contests for ODU this season. Ohio Dominican suffered a pair of defeats last weekend, falling 79-61 to Grand Valley State and 69-60 to Ferris State in Alumni Hall.
In the contest against Grand Valley, ODU scored the first 11 points and trailed by just three points with eight minutes remaining before the Lakers closed the game on a 25-9 run. Morgan Jones had a season-high 20 points and Jake Mochoskay buried four three-pointers in the setback.
ODU had to play catch-up against Ferris State, falling behind 15-2 in the early going. The Panthers cut the deficit to single digits in the second half but could not make it a one-possession game in the closing minutes. Aaron Gibbs notched his first double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Zack Joseph had career-highs in points (13) and minutes (24) off the bench.
Michigan Tech matched up with Northern Michigan last week and defeated the Wildcats 77-54. Junior Ali Haidar set career-highs in both points (30) and rebounds (15) for the Huskies in the win. Northern Michigan was paced by DeAndre Taylor, who averaged 17.0 points per game in the Wildcats' two contests.
