Men's Hoops Hosts Eagles in Thursday's Home Finale


COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team is looking to snap its current four-game losing streak and get a win in the team's final home game of its first season in the GLIAC, as the Panthers host Ashland on Senior Night this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The team's two seniors, Jimmy Russell and Keith Jackson, will be honored prior to the game for their contributions to the Panthers basketball program.

ODU lost its most recent matchup against Tiffin, 89-87, in a back-and-forth game that included 11 ties and 14 lead changes. Tiffin took advantage of a hot shooting day, hitting 56.7 percent of their field goals and 60 percent from behind the arc. The Dragons outscored ODU in the paint, 42-28, and earned 15 second-chance points. The Panthers last tied the game 87-87 with 28 seconds remaining in the game, but lost after Tiffin took a two-point lead on a baseline jumper with 2.5 seconds left.

Jake Mochoskay led the way for the Panthers with a career-high 27 points, while shooting 9-of-14 from the field and making 6-of-11 three point attempts. The six threes also set a career-high for Mochoskay. The offensive output was the highest point total recorded by a Panther since Bryan West scored 35 points at Shawnee State on February 17, 2009. Morgan Jones contributed 18 points and Zak Kapron added 11 points to join the double-digit scoring club. Career-highs were also set by Aaron Gibbs, who tallied seven assists, and Jackson, who recorded nine rebounds.

Ashland enters the game with a record of 12-12 (6-11, GLIAC), and is currently on a three-game losing streak. The Eagles are led by Kale Richardson, who is averaging 14.5 points and seven rebounds per game.
