COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With three contests left in the 2010-11 season, the Ohio Dominican men's basketball team will look to have a strong close to its inaugural campaign in the GLIAC, starting Saturday when the Panthers host South Division foe Tiffin.
The Panthers had a chance to sweep the season series from Urbana in their last outing on Wednesday, but couldn't maintain a 12-point second half lead as ODU fell 76-70. Urbana shot 55 percent from three-point range (11-of-20), the best figure by an ODU opponent this year, and hit 21-of-24 free throws (87.5 percent), also the best percentage by an opponent. Those numbers helped erase a 43-31 Panther lead in the second half.
Aaron Gibbs had another impressive outing, pouring in 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers, and he's shooting 65.5 percent from the field over the past five games while averaging 18.4 points. Morgan Jones tallied 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, and Jake Mochoskay contributed with 12 points off the bench for ODU.
The Dragons narrowly missed an upset victory over Hillsdale in their last game, falling 68-67. Tiffin trailed by 14 in the second half before grabbing a one-point lead with 39 seconds left. Karl Finley scored 27 in the setback for Tiffin, which has lost three straight games after recording a three-game winning streak in GLIAC play.
