COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team will try to snap its three-game losing skid when the Panthers play host to GLIAC North Division foe Saginaw Valley State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
ODU fell 78-69 to Lake Superior State on Thursday despite committing just eight turnovers, attempting 20 more field goals, grabbing 18 offensive rebounds and outscoring LSSU in the paint (34-24). Five Panthers scored in double figures, including 17 points from Morgan Jones, 13 from Jake Mochoskay, 12 apiece from John Trew and Zak Kapron and 10 points from Aaron Gibbs. However, Lake Superior shot 57.1 percent from the field in the second half and 50 percent for the game and led by as many as 14 points as the Lakers controlled most of the second half. ODU was also hurt by going just 4-of-17 from the free throw line.
The Panthers, one of the top three-point shooting teams in the GLIAC, has scuffled a bit beyond the arc in the past three contests, making 20-of-61 (32.8 percent) from deep while the opposition has hit 22-of-52 (42.3 percent). ODU has also shot 42.5 percent from the field in that stretch while allowing 47.7 percent shooting.
Saginaw enters Saturday's game after having its four-game winning streak snapped with an 84-65 setback at Tiffin. Keithan Jackson led the Cardinals with 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers, and in eight games played, he's the team's leading scorer with 15.1 per contest.
