COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team will try to extend its winning streak to three straight as the Panthers hit the road for a GLIAC contest against North Division foe Northwood at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Defense has been key for the Panthers, who grinded out road victories at Lake Erie on Jan. 8 and Urbana on Jan. 12, holding the home teams to a combined 39.8 percent shooting and just 23.3 percent from three-point range in those contests. The Panthers maximized their offensive production in those contests, as ODU - despite hitting just 41 percent of its shots from the field - knocked down a combined 16 three-pointers and 38-of-52 (73.1 percent) of its free throws in picking up the road victories.
The Panthers used a career-high 24 points from Morgan Jones to come from behind and defeat Urbana 80-73 in their last outing. Jones helped spark the team with 11 points in the first half as ODU rallied from an eight-point deficit to take a 40-35 edge into intermission. The Panthers stretched the lead to as many as 10 points in the second half, then used 16-of-20 shooting from the charity stripe after the break to hold off an Urbana rally.
Northwood enters the contest after having dropped two straight to in-state rivals Grand Valley and Ferris State. The Timberwolves have scored over 80 points in four of their last six games, though Grand Valley held them to just 38 points on Jan. 12. Northwood is 2-3 at home on the season.
