COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team will look for its second straight road victory as the Panthers make the short trek to Urbana for a non-conference matchup with the Blue Knights at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
ODU snapped an eight-game losing streak and earned its first victory away from Alumni Hall on Saturday, besting Lake Erie 72-64 in Painesville. The win also marked the program's first as a member of the GLIAC, though it didn't come easily as the Panthers had to rally after trailing in the second half and seeing leading scorer and rebounder Aaron Gibbs foul out with over seven minutes remaining in the game.
Overall, the game featured 13 ties and nine lead changes, with neither team leading by more than five points over the opening 38 minutes of the contest. The Panthers shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) and hit nine three-pointers while limiting Lake Erie to 35.4 percent shooting from the field (23-of-65). The Storm hit just 3-of-19 from three-point range and 15-of-29 from the free throw line. It was ODU's second-best defensive effort of the year after holding Cincinnati Christian to 30.8 percent shooting on Nov. 19.
Urbana enters the game having lost six of its last seven games, as the Blue Knights fell to 3-13 after losing 84-68 to Ashland on Saturday. The Blue Knights have struggled defensively this year, allowing 84.8 points per game on 48.7 percent shooting. Robert Wilson leads the team in scoring, free throw shooting, three-point shooting, rebounding and steals.
