COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team aims to curb its seven-game losing streak as the Panthers take on GLIAC South Division foe Hillsdale at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Alumni Hall.
ODU suffered an 82-72 setback against the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Thursday, Dec. 30. Northern Michigan started the game on a 36-12 run before ODU rallied late in the first half. Morgan Jones scored 17 of his career-high 22 points as the Panthers cut the deficit to eight before entering the intermission trailing 44-32, despite the Wildcats shooting 72 percent from the field in the frame.
ODU continued its comeback as the team made seven of its 10 three pointers in the second half. The Panthers finally took the lead when Zak Kapron converted a layup with 8:07 remaining in the game and held a four point advantage two minutes later. NMU scored the next 10 points, however, and pulled away for the win.
Jones' 22 points tied a game high and his seven assists and six steals were career-highs for the sophomore guard. Jake Mochoskay scored 13 points off the bench for ODU.
Hillsdale (11-0, 5-0 GLIAC) enters Thursday's game as the sixth-ranked team in Division II. The Chargers are led in scoring by forward Brent Eaton, who is averaging 16.1 points per game. Hillsdale has won 26 of its past 29 games over the last two seasons and this is its highest national ranking in school history.
