COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team faces a stiff challenge at 6 p.m. this Thursday as it hits the road for its first GLIAC contest to the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena to take on Grand Valley State, a team that is ranked 16th nationally in Division II.
The Panthers hope to make up for their most recent 77-76 setback to Northwestern Ohio, a game that ODU let slip away. The Panthers relinquished an 11-point second half lead, as Northwestern Ohio was able to rally back and force overtime.
ODU produced well statistically on the offensive end, shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from behind the arc. However, the Panthers' free-throw shooting woes ended up haunting them in the end, as the team made only six of 16 attempts (37.5 percent). Ohio Dominican also committed 24 turnovers.
The Panthers were led in scoring by Morgan Jones, who had a career day with 21 points and five assists. Aaron Gibbs and Zak Kapron also scored in double digits for ODU, with 17 points and 15 points, respectively.
Grand Valley State enters the game with a 3-1 record, and is averaging a GLIAC-high 86.5 points per game. The Lakers are led by guard/forward Justin Ringler, who averages 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
