COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team attempts to extend its current winning streak to three games as the Panthers go on the road to take on Northwestern Ohio at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
ODU pulled off two victories this past weekend to win the Red Roof Inn Roundball Classic, an event hosted annually at Alumni Hall. The semifinal game was a comfortable 87-59 victory over Cincinnati Christian, a game in which 11 Panthers scored, led by Zak Kapron's 18 points. In the championship game, ODU rallied late to win a tight game against Mid-Continent (Ky.) University, 65-62.
The Panthers trailed Mid-Continent by seven points with 4:29 remaining in the game, and were finally able to take the lead for good with 1:21 left. The rally was ignited by Aaron Gibbs' team-high 13 points, with Zak Kapron and John Trew also reaching double digits with 10 and 11 points, respectively.
Gibbs recorded a double-double in the win over Cincinnati Christian, with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Northwestern Ohio comes into the game with a record of 1-3, with their most recent 84-78 win over Miami-Middletown snapping their initial three-game skid. The Racers are paced by freshman guard Jake Bolyard, who is averaging 22.8 points per game.
