COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team dropped their fifth straight game on Tuesday night with a 69-60 loss to No. 15 Cedarville University at the Callan Athletic Center in Cedarville, Ohio. The Panthers have started the season 0-5 for the first time in recent history, including three games to preseason top 25 teams.
It was another tight battle between the two former American Mideast Conference rivals as clutch shots led the No. 15 ranked Yellow Jackets to the victory. Cedarville never trailed in the game as the visiting Panthers pushed the host to the wire.
The Panthers forced the only tie of the second half at 46-46 with 8:45 remaining in regulation. The Jackets again pushed the lead back to eight, but another ODU run cut the lead to two with 2:50 remaining in the game. Ricardo Alliman's lay-up with 45 seconds left gave Cedarville a six point lead and a pair of clutch free throws down the stretch by the Jackets to clinch the win for the host.
Aaron Gibbs (So./Oberlin, OH) recorded his first career double-double in the black and gold as he went for 16 points and 14 rebounds. ODU guard Sonny Stattmiller (Sr./Columbus, OH) was the only other Panthers to score in double figures with 11 points.
Alliman led all scorers with 18 points and grabbed 12 boards for the Yellow Jackets. Matt Harner added 14 points and Austin Foote chipped in with 12 to give Cedarville their fourth straight victory.
