Contini, Lorenz Named Academic All-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas – For a second straight year, Ohio Dominican wide receiver Cory Contini (Dover, Ohio) was recognized as a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American, while senior center Andrew Lorenz (Dublin, Ohio) earned Second Team Academic All-American honors.

The Panther duo were the lone G-MAC representatives on the list, and ODU was the lone Ohio school with multiple selections.

Contini is one of six student-athletes to repeat as first team selections. An accounting major with a 3.93 GPA, Contini was named D2CCA First Team All-Region, the G-MAC Offensive Back of the Year and First Team All-Great Midwest. He closed the year with 72 catches for 1,186 yards and 14 touchdowns. Entering the postseason, Contini ranked fifth in the country in touchdowns, sixth in yards per game (118.6) and 13th in catches per game (7.2). He was also 33rd in the nation in all-purpose yards per game (135.4).

In ODU's single-season records, he had the second-most touchdowns, third-most yards and fourth-most catches of any Panther, while his receptions per game are a school-record for a season. For his career, he has 147 catches (sixth in ODU history), 2,289 yards (fifth) and 22 touchdowns (fourth).

Lorenz is in the MBA program and carried a 3.83 undergraduate GPA in accounting and finance. Like Contini, he also earned D2CCA First Team All-Region honors and was a First Team All-Great Midwest honoree. He helped power a Panther offense that was among the nation's best. At the end of the regular season, ODU ranked fifth in the country in total offense (510.5 yards per game), third in passing offense (343.6 yards per game) and 17th in scoring (39.5 points per game.)

ODU was also third in the country in third down conversion percentage (52.9 percent), led the nation in completion percentage (72.0 percent) and ranked 14th in red zone offense (90.0 percent).

Lorenz finished his career by making 37 starts.

Ohio Dominican closed its season with a 7-3 record, losing two games to playoff opponents and once to an FCS opponent. The Panthers have won at least seven games in every year since 2011 and are 47-13 in their last 60 games (.783). ODU also has a 42-8 record (.840) against Ohio opponents since 2007.
