COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio Dominican safety Justin Bell has signed a deal to play with the Kuopio Steelers in Finland.
Bell, who had previously played with SeaMen Milano in Italy, graduated as one of the most decorated players in Ohio Dominican history. A six-time All-American selection, Bell made 101 tackles as a senior in 2013 and was named the GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year. He helped guide the Panthers to an undefeated regular season and their first trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
In 2012, Bell was a First Team All-GLIAC pick after making 100 tackles on the season, and he picked up Honorable Mention All-GLIAC accolades as a sophomore in 2011.
In his career, Bell finished with a school-record 294 tackles, to go along with nine interceptions (tied for third in ODU history), a school-record seven forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. A dangerous return man, Bell tied a GLIAC record with a 91 yard punt return for a touchdown against Grand Valley in 2013 and averaged 14.4 yards per return that season.
